A little more on our accomodations
6 of us camped out on the floor of Jimmy Heberts home. Jimmy lives next door to the KH which made it very convienent for us. 2 guys per room with most of us having air mattresses. Jimmy had an extra fridge in the living room for us to keep some snacks and drinks in. (note the pix of "Jimmy behind bars ". Jimmy had a recliner in his kitchen that he would sit in and listen to us talk late into the nights. when he wanted to chime in he would stand up and look out the prison bars! pretty funny. what a great brother jimmy is. patient with us as well. he has had 4-8 people in his house since October. Many of the local families have been doing the same. Attached are some pix of our evenings. most nights we sat up and talked about the work of the day, past relief work others have done and lots of other stuff. Lou had great stories of his temp assignments at bethel and many of the brothers who have been around for years spoke about experiences at assemblies in the 60's and 70's. Lou is the Norco Assembly Hall Overseer and also coordinated all of the efforts of construction efforts at the Long Beach arena. Lou also maintains a library of books, tracts, artifacts and general literature from the early days of the organization. many of the references to early watchtowers (pre-1900) you see in print comes from Lous collection. He is a wealth of information and experience and kept us up late each night with stories and experiences.
attached is another pix of a brother from Kentuckey- "kentuckey Steve" being initiated into the "region 9 framing team". Steve has done relief work all over this country and in the caribean. super guy. During our trip there were food crews from South Carolina (see the pix of the smoker trailer), Texas and CHicago. there were work crews from Texas, Tucson AZ, Kentuckey, Northern California and local workers. See the pix of the map-they put a pin in for each team coming in.
