had a few questions about what we are up to from an organizational standpoint. the friends here are all back to meetings. in the area we are in most of the damage came from the winds from hurricane rita and then the follow on rain. there were also mini/micro tornados that came from the wind. these left some areas untouched and others devasted. most of the KH's were up and going quickly. the friends have been back to meetings and service but most of their time is spent in the relief work. many have had their homes damaged or devestated but they are able to worship. the question came up about a "tent city" the pix i showed of that are of a tent behind the KH which is our hub (more on hubs and regions later). the KH is used as a KH, office, trailer park, pre-construction point, and food service. while it is better here for worship in lake charles east of here moving towards new orleans it isnt so good. the brothers had dramatically more damage and the releif efforts are moving that way. the delay on new orleans i will explain more later. suffice to say, it will be awhile still before relief efforts of the magnitude we experience start there if they do at all. of 19 congregations new orleans is down to 2. the circuit has been disolved and the two congregations left split to neighboring congregations. again more on that later. i should have some more statistics shortly that are a little more verifiable. this has been one of my greatest life experiences yet. one of the brothers with us who has done relief work before and has done many temp assignments at bethel said that it will take a week or two for what we have expereinced to kick in. a few more pix of the KH and then some of the devestation we have seen attached.
more when we get home and i can organize this more. this whole blog thing was tougher to do then i thought. thanks for bearing with me, i will get it all organized shortly.
